NEW: Craft Brewing And Distilling News for June 28, 2012
June 28, 2012•Minnetonka, Minnesota-based craft brewer Badger Hill Brewing is rolling out its first offerings this week beginning with a launch party in St. Paul. Badger Hill’s first beer is an extra special bitter (ESB) dubbed MSB (for Minnesota special bitter). Upcoming releases will include a Foundation Stout and Three Tree American Rye. Founded by brothers Broc and Brent Krekelberg, Badger Hill brews its beer in a partnership with fellow Minnesota craft player Lucid Brewing under an arrangement called “alternating proprietorship,” a designation offered by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau to allow emerging craft brewers to share capital expenditure costs and leverage each other’s infrastructure.
•Seattle-based Two Beers Brewing Co. is adding a pair of new limited-edition beers to its lineup this summer. The first launch, Backcountry Cascadian Brown Ale, will be available on tap at the Two Beers tasting room, as well as in select bars and restaurants in Seattle, beginning June 20. The second, Ascension Triple IPA, was created specifically for the Seattle International Beerfest (SIB) and Portland International Beerfest (PIB). Ascension—which at 18.2% abv is the brewer’s strongest entry yet—will be offered at the SIB from July 6-8 and at the PIB from July 20-22. Established in 2007, Two Beers Brewing produces five year-round beers and seven seasonals at its 4,800-square-foot brewery. Select Two Beers offerings can also be found in 22-ounce bottles and 12-ounce cans throughout Washington, Oregon, Alaska and Idaho.
