August 3, 2012•Chicago-based Hopothesis Beer Co. has launched its first brew, Hopothesis India Pale Ale. The 7.1%-abv beer, which was in development for four years, features Vienna and caramel malted barley combined with Cascade and Centennial hops. The company held the official launch event yesterday at the Beer Bistro in Chicago. Hopothesis’ next release—Drafty Window Prairie Ale, made with corn, wheat and barley—is slated to roll out later this year. Hopothesis Beer Co. was formed by homebrewer Ike Orcutt and a group of entrepreneurs in 2011.
•Providence, Rhode Island’s Narragansett Brewing Co. has expanded distribution into Wisconsin, marking the brand’s first move beyond the East Coast. The company is partnering with Beechwood Distributing and Specialty Beverage of Wisconsin to make Narragansett available statewide on- and off-premise. Narragansett’s other markets include New England, Eastern Pennsylvania, Florida, New Jersey, New York and North Carolina. The company’s selection of beers includes the flagship Narragansett Lager, which is currently being featured in a limited edition retro-style can, Narragansett Light, Narragansett Cream and four seasonal offerings.
