Craft Brewing And Distilling News for August 9, 2012August 9, 2012
•Escondido, California-based Stone Brewing Co. is releasing its Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale, Stone Ruination IPA and Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale in 12-ounce bottle four-packs. The four-packs—which, according to Stone Brewing co-founder and CEO Greg Koch, were being requested by consumers—will be available in 36 states. Meanwhile, all three year-round beers will continue to be offered in their original 22-ounce bottles, while Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale will also remain on draft. Founded in 1996 by Koch and Steve Wagner, Stone Brewing is projected to reach annual production of 180,000 barrels this year.
•Houston’s Saint Arnold Brewing Co. has reported a 37.6% rise in production for the first six months of 2012 to more than 23,400 barrels. The growth was driven in part by strong sales of Saint Arnold’s Santo label—a black Kölsch launched last October—and seasonal offerings, as well as the February rollout of the brewery’s first Double IPA, Saint Arnold Endeavor. Last year, the Texas brewer reported total annual production of around 40,416 barrels, a 29% increase on the year prior. Offering five year-round brews, five seasonals and a range of limited edition offerings, Saint Arnold’s portfolio is available throughout the Houston, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth and San Antonio metro areas.
