•St. Helena, California-based C. Mondavi & Family is giving its CK Mondavi wine brand a packaging makeover, with the new version hitting the market in September. CK Mondavi’s new labels center on an “artistic, contemporary oak tree design,” which was chosen from more than 30 alternative designs and outperformed competitors’ labels in C. Mondavi & Family’s consumer research. CK Mondavi includes Chardonnay, Moscato, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, White Zinfandel and a proprietary red blend called Scarlet Five. Up 6% last year to 1.44 million cases, the brand does most of its business in the 1.5-liter format, which sells for $11.99.

•BevMo is opening two new Southern California stores—one in City of Industry and the other in Goleta—this weekend. The City of Industry store is 7,000-square-feet, while the Goleta outpost is just under 9,500-square-feet. Both locations will feature BevMo’s selection of thousands of wines, spirits and beers, as well as gourmet food items, cocktail mixers, glassware and bar accessories. The new stores will kick off with a ribbon cutting ceremony today, followed by a weekend of events, tastings and in-store demonstrations. With the City of Industry and Goleta additions, BevMo now operates 120 stores, 108 of which are in California.
