Ste. Michelle Buys Fellow Washington Company O Wines

September 11, 2012

Ste. Michelle Wine Estates says it has acquired fellow Washington winery O Wines for an undisclosed sum. O Wines is a Columbia Valley Chardonnay-focused brand selling for around $14 a bottle with distribution in the Northwest and several West Coast markets. Production is around 6,000 cases annually. Ste. Michelle president and CEO Ted Baseler says plans for O Wines looking ahead include the addition of a red wine and the expansion of its distribution footprint across the country.

O Wines was founded in 2006 by Stacy Lill and Kathy Johanson with a mission of helping to fund college scholarships for low-income, deserving youth. Through partnerships with the College Success Foundation among other organizations, the company has funded more than 40 scholarships over the past four years. Baseler says Ste. Michelle will continue to donate a portion of the proceeds from O Wines to that cause looking ahead.
