Wine.com’s Top Sellers of 2012 Show Progress In Imports, White Wines

December 5, 2012

Online retailer Wine.com has revealed its 100 best-selling wines for the 11 months through November. The top 10 wines purchased on the site during that period were: Columbia Crest Two Vines Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Jaume Serra Cristalino Brut Cava, Seghesio Sonoma Zinfandel 2010, Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label, Penley Estate Phoenix Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Conn Creek Cabernet Sauvignon 2007, Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Shoofly Shiraz 2010 and Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2007.

Wine.com noted that imports account for 50% of its top 100 sellers, compared with only around a 30% share for imported wines across the total U.S. market. Italian labels—whose membership on the list doubled from six to 12 last year—have played a key role among imports for the retailer. Also, white wines are on the rise, with 24 whites (led by nine Chardonnays) on the list for 2012, up from 14 last year.
