The Vintner Group Expands Multi-State Footprint To Georgia

January 2, 2013

Virginia-based distributor/importer The Vintner Group has agreed to acquire Prestige Wine Wholesale, an Atlanta-based fine wine distributor, for an undisclosed sum.

The Vintner Group will now have its first distribution operation in Georgia. The company already distributes more than 1,500 labels across its units in Delaware, Maryland, Washington, D.C., West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina (doing business as The Country Vintner) and Florida (doing business as Stacole Fine Wines).

Prestige Wine Wholesale distributes to on- and off-premise accounts throughout Georgia. Its owners, Jon George and Jim Sculley, will stay on to manage daily operations. The Vintner Group director of marketing Clay Farmer told Shanken News Daily today that he expects Georgia to become the company’s second-largest market by volume, behind Florida.

In addition to its wholesale operation, The Vintner Group has an import and craft spirits unit, Craft + Estate, which includes Beau-Rivage from Bordeaux and Altosur and Sophenia from Argentina, among other wines. The company’s American Still Life Collection of craft spirits houses labels like Balcones whiskey from Texas and Boyd & Blair potato vodka from Pennsylvania.
