•New Belgium Brewing will delay the construction timeline for its Asheville, North Carolina facility by eight months due to the ability to meet demand with recently increased capacity at its Fort Collins, Colorado brewery. New Belgium has nearly completed deconstruction at the site of the Asheville brewery and will continue development and building construction later in 2014, which is slated to take place over 22 months. The company has added 70,000 barrels of capacity recently to the Fort Collins locations, ramping up total production there to nearly 920,000 barrels per year, which is expected to meet the brewer’s sale projections through 2015.
•Chris Radomski and Jayson Woodbridge of Hundred Acre Wines have partnered with Ethan Wayne, son of John Wayne, to establish craft producer Monument Valley Distillers. The artisan distiller will craft small batches of Bourbon, whiskey and brandy under the brand name Duke Spirits (to honor John Wayne). The first release is a limited edition Duke Special Reserve Brandy ($350), with only a limited quantity available by waitlist. Designed to commemorate John Wayne’s birthday (May 26) and his legacy, the brandy has been aged for 24 years and was distilled in an alambic pot still.
