McDonnell Steps Down As Patrón’s COO, Industry Veteran Dave Wilson Replaces HimMay 30, 2013
Patrón Spirits has appointed Dave Wilson as president of its international operations and global COO, effective June 10. Reporting to Patrón president and CEO Ed Brown, Wilson will be responsible for the day-to-day worldwide operations and management of the company. Wilson joins Patrón Spirits from Brandmuscle (Centiv), where he’s been president of the company’s beverage alcohol group for the past seven years. He began his career in the spirits industry at Joseph E. Seagram & Sons, where he held various positions in production, finance, and sales and marketing management. After Seagram, Wilson spent nine years in executive roles at National Wine and Spirits and Southern Wine & Spirits.
Wilson is replacing John McDonnell, who Patrón said has decided to leave the company to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities in the drinks industry. McDonnell was appointed president of Patrón’s international division earlier this year, while retaining the COO post that he’d held since 2005. Patrón Tequila enjoyed a remarkable rise during McDonnell’s time as COO. The upscale Tequila brand sold 340,000 cases in 2004, according to Impact Databank. In 2012, Patrón reached the 2-million-case mark.Subscribe to Shanken News Daily’s Email Newsletter, delivered to your inbox each morning.
