•Boulder, Colorado’s Avery Brewing Co. has introduced the latest beer, Momi Hiwa, to its Barrel-Aged Series. The beer is a taproom-only exclusive, priced at $10 a 12-ounce bottle. Momi Hiwa is a coconut porter, aged in dark rum barrels for six months before being moved to steel tanks, where 360 pounds of dried, hand-toasted coconut were added. The Barrel-Aged Series has also included Sui Generis Barrel-Aged Sour Ale, Black Tot Barrel-Aged Imperial Oatmeal Stout, Margarete Barrel-Aged Sour Cherry Stout and Dihos Dactylion Barrel-Aged Sour Ale, as well as 10 other previous recipes. Avery also produces Avery IPA, The Maharaja Imperial IPA, White Rascal Belgian Wheat Ale and Mephistopheles’ Stout, as well as 20 other year-round and seasonal beers.

•Indianapolis-based Sun King Brewery will bring back Grapefruit Jungle IPA summer seasonal early next month. Billed as a classic American IPA that showcases hops from the Pacific Northwest to create a citrus hop flavor, Grapefruit Jungle will be released in 16-ounce cans as well as on draft throughout Indiana. Sun King recently invested $3.9 million in an expansion project to add 1,850 additional square feet to its existing 2,700-square-foot facility and new barrel fermentation tanks to increase capacity. Founded in 2009, Sun King Brewing produces three year-round beers—Osiris Pale Ale, Wee Mac and Sunlight Cream Ale—as well as a variety of seasonal and specialty offerings.
