Riondo Expands Portfolio, Expects To Hit 500,000 Cases For 2013

Italian wine producer Riondo USA continues to surge, with its flagship Riondo brand rising 20% by volume and 12% by dollar value in the first six months of this year. The company is projecting 500,000 cases for Riondo in 2013. An Impact “Hot Brand,” Riondo’s depletions reached 400,000 cases in 2012.

“Our Prosecco Spago ($10.99) and Pink ($9.99) are driving the portfolio,” says Riondo USA vice president of operations John Blesse. “They’ve been spreading into new western markets over the past two years, while our established business east of the Mississippi continues to show double-digit growth.”

Riondo is currently being extended with two new sparkling wines—Blu, a Spumante-style Prosecco ($13.99) that launched on August 1, and R37 Demi-Sec Prosecco ($14.99), launchingSeptember 1. Both wines are sourced from the vineyards of the Colli Group in Italy’s Veneto region.

Riondo USA is also innovating with OneGlass, a new single-serve wine brand in a pouch. OneGlass is rolling out this month in 30 states, with national coverage slated for next year. Priced at $2.99 a 4-ounce package, OneGlass is initially available in four different varieties—Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Grigio and Sangria. Riondo plans to extend the line with a Chardonnay and a chocolate wine next year.
