•California wholesaler Harbor Distributing, part of Reyes Beverage Group, has agreed to acquire substantially all the assets of Sylmar, California-based Allied Beverage Inc. Expected to close in January, the deal will see Harbor expand its Southern California business with the addition of Allied’s 12-million-case operation, which delivers to 4,100 retailers across northwest Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. Harbor currently sells more than 20 million cases to 5,600 accounts across Southern California. The merged company’s suppliers will include MillerCoors, Crown Imports, Diageo-Guinness and Heineken, as well as an extensive craft list including Dogfish Head, Deschutes, Boston Beer, Anchor Brewing, Ballast Point, Green Flash, Lagunitas and others.

•Atlanta-based Sweetwater Brewing has released a new seasonal to its Catch & Release lineup, Whiplash White IPA. A 6.2%-abv brew described as a dry-hopped version of a pale Belgian ale, Whiplash will be available on draft, in six-packs and in Sweetwater’s Tackle Box variety packs until late February. Sweetwater’s beers are currently available in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama.
