•Wirtz Beverage Illinois is adding to its craft beer portfolio with Madison, Wisconsin-based Ale Asylum. The move marks Ale Asylum’s first foray outside its home state. Beginning in February, four beers from Ale Asylum will be available statewide in Illinois in bottles and on draft. They include flagship Hopalicious, an American Pale Ale at 5.8% abv.; Ambergeddon, a 6.8%-abv West Coast Amber; Madtown Nutbrown, a 5.5%-abv. nutbrown ale; and Bedlam! IPA, a Belgian IPA at 7.5% abv. Founded in 2006, Ale Asylum found a strong following in Madison and Milwaukee and in 2012 expanded statewide in Wisconsin. The brewery recently moved to a larger facility and was able to double production of its six seasonal and six year-round beers.

•California craft brewer Coronado is releasing the latest in its Crown Series, Hoppy Daze Belgian IPA, at the end of January. Hoppy Daze Belgian IPA’s flavor comes from Coronado’s yeast blend, Czech Saaz hops and Chinook hops, which are said to give the brew a slight fruit-tart aroma. The 7.5%-abv offering will be available in 22-ounce bottles and on draft through August across Coronado’s 14-state footprint, which was recently expanded to include Oregon and Washington.

•Juneau, Alaska-based Alaskan Brewing Co. has added a new year-round release to its core stable. Billed as a Double IPA, Hopothermia is made with a base of Nugget and Apollo hops, as well as a later addition of Amarillo, Citra and Centennial hops. The 8.5%-abv brew will be available across Alaskan Brewing’s 15-state footprint in both four-packs and on draft. Hopothermia joins Alaskan Amber, Alaskan White, Alaskan IPA, Alaskan Stout and Alaskan Freeride IPA in the year-round Alaskan Brewing lineup.
