•Wine and spirits delivery service Thirstie has launched in New York City. The company, which is now delivering to Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn, partners with retailers to deliver wine and spirits to customers who’ve ordered via the Thirstie website and iOS and Android apps. Promising delivery within an hour, Thirstie bills itself as an easy-to-operate platform for retailers who want to expand in the wine and spirits home-delivery space. The launch of Thirstie comes a month after news that Pernod Ricard had partnered with another delivery start-up, Drizly, which is currently active in Boston and New York and has set the goal of becoming “the Amazon for beverage alcohol.”

•Treasury Wine Estates has partnered with Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse to launch a new Penfolds expression, Bin 9 Cabernet Sauvignon. Ruth’s Chris will celebrate the launch of the new upscale addition on March 13th with a five-course pairing dinner that includes Bin 9, as well as Penfolds’ Bin 51 Riesling, Bin 311 Chardonnay, Bin 8 Cabernet Shiraz and Bin 128 Shiraz. Penfolds, one of Treasury’s most prestigious Australian brands, has been a bright spot in the U.S. market for the company of late, posting strong growth over the past six months. The brand currently sells around 190,000 cases annually in the U.S. market.

•Bag-in-box Sangria brand Beso del Sol is set to launch in 10 new markets. Starting March 1, the sangria will be available in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine via M.S. Walker; Georgia and Tennessee via Georgia Crown; Maryland, Delaware and Washington, D.C. via Prestige Imports; and Florida via Southern Wine & Spirits. Positioned as a 100% natural Spanish import, Beso del Sol is packaged in a 3-liter box, allowing the sangria to stay fresh for up to six weeks after opening. The brand is a joint venture between importer Arctic Beverage and L&B LLC, a company formed by industry veterans Larry Margolis and Bradd Levitan.
