March 3, 2014•Chicago-based craft brewer Goose Island is launching its new 312 Urban Pale Ale entry, created to complement its flagship 312 Urban Wheat Ale, into national distribution. Rolling out March 12, the brew is billed as an accessible and sessionable offering, featuring Amarillo, Mt. Hood and Nugget hops and caramel malt. 312 Urban Pale Ale, which marks Goose Island’s first year-round, nationally available Pale Ale, will be available in 12-ounce bottle six-packs and 12-packs, 12-ounce can 12-packs and 16-ounce can four-packs, as well as on draft. Acquired by Anheuser-Busch InBev in 2011, Goose Island has a U.S. volume of close to 350,000 barrels. In addition to 312 Urban Pale Ale, the brewer plans to add a total of 18 new beers to its portfolio in 2014.
•Victory Brewing has officially opened its second brewery in Parkesburg, Pennsylvania. The new 140,000-square-foot facility has a capacity of 225,000 barrels annually, more than doubling the current capacity of Victory’s original facility in nearby Downington. In addition to state-of-the-art brewing equipment, the Parkesburg location will feature entertaining and education space, with construction on a 10,000-square-foot brewpub and beer garden scheduled to near completion by early 2015. Victory Brewing, which produces a lineup of 11 year-round brews and 12 seasonals, has a current footprint of 34 states.
•U.K. import Crabbie’s Original Alcoholic Ginger Beer has added a new flavored offering to its portfolio, Spiced Orange, which will be sold in the 42 states within the brand’s distribution footprint. The 4.8%-abv beverage will be available in four-packs of 11-ounce bottles or in a 16.9-ounce bottle. The new addition will have a lighter ginger profile with an added orange flavor and is ideally served chilled with a slice of orange, by itself or in ginger beer cocktails. Massachusetts-based St. Killian is the exclusive U.S. importer of Crabbie’s.
