•Colorado’s New Belgium Brewing has unveiled a pair of specialty releases for spring, RyePA and Gruit Ale. Created in collaboration with Riverbend Malt House, RyePA marks the latest entry in New Belgium’s Hop Kitchen series. The 7.5%-abv India Pale Ale is brewed with Carolina Rye and then malted by Riverbend, and also features a blend of Simcoe, Galaxy, Cascade and Mosaic hops. Also launching this month is Gruit Ale, the newest release from New Belgium’s Lips of Faith series. Made using an ancient brewing style, Gruit Ale is brewed with pale and Munich malts, wheat and oats, as well as an herb mixture featuring bog myrtle, wormwood and elderflower, among others. The result is a 6.6% brew characterized by herbal, mint and floral flavors. Both RyePA and Gruit will be available in limited quantities through May in 22-ounce bombers and on draft.

•Hawaii-based Kona Brewing Company, part of Craft Brew Alliance, will release Castaway IPA on April 14 to major markets across the U.S. mainland. The Hawaiian-style IPA is 6%-abv and will be available in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles and on draught. Castaway features Galaxy, Citra, Simcoe and Millennium hops for a copper-colored IPA with a crisp finish, the company says. Kona’s other craft offerings include Longboard Island Lager, Big Wave Golden Ale and Fire Rock Pale Ale.
