News Alert: Ed Shirley Retires From Bacardi Ltd.

April 8, 2014

Bacardi Limited has announced the retirement of president and chief executive officer Ed Shirley, effective immediately. Shirley, a former Procter & Gamble vice chairman, joined Bacardi as president and CEO in March 2012. He had previously retired from P&G in 2011.

During his time with Bacardi, Shirley oversaw a revitalized marketing push for the company’s flagship rum brand, as well as Dewar’s blended Scotch whisky, Grey Goose vodka and the Martini vermouth and Italian sparkling wine franchise. His tenure also coincided with Bacardi’s acquisition of super-premium elderflower liqueur brand St-Germain.

“Ed leaves Bacardi a stronger organization from his dedication to the company and its brands,” said Bacardi Limited chairman and fifth-generation Bacardi family member Facundo Bacardi. “We thank Ed for his commitment and passion to Bacardi and we all wish him well.”

Shirley will initially be replaced by an interim CEO, who is slated to be announced shortly and will serve until a permanent successor is named. Pending the announcement, Bacardi Limited’s executive team will report directly to Facundo Bacardi.
