April 25, 2014•Anheuser-Busch InBev has extended its Shock Top brand with Shock Top Twisted Pretzel Wheat, a new limited edition entry. A Belgian-style unfiltered ale, Twisted Pretzel Wheat is made with wheat, caramel malt, orange peels and pretzel flavoring. The 5.2%-abv entry will be available on draft for a limited time at more than 150 beer festivals nationwide, as well as at special events and select retail locations. Shock Top, whose core portfolio includes its Belgian White, Honey Bourbon Cask Wheat, Apple Wheat and Raspberry Wheat labels, was down 2.6% last year to 7.7 million (2.25-gallon) cases in the U.S., according to Impact Databank.
•Burlington, Vermont-based The Traveler Beer Company has released a new, year-round Shandy—Illusive Traveler. A wheat ale brewed with fresh grapefruit, Illusive Traveler features a citrus aroma. The new, 4.4%-abv entry, which will be available only in bottles, joins The Traveler Beer Company’s flagship Curious Traveler—the brewer’s original wheat ale made with lemon and lime—as well as Time Traveler, a summer seasonal made with fresh strawberry, available through July. Launched in 2012, The Traveler Beer Co. is a craft beer venture from Boston Beer-owned Alchemy & Science.
