•Madison, Wisconsin-based Ale Asylum has launched Unshadowed Hefeweizen, the brewer’s first new bottled offering in four years. Previously only available at the Ale Asylum tasting room, Unshadowed is currently rolling out on- and off-premise across Wisconsin and Illinois. The German-style entry joins Hopalicious APA, Bedlam IPA, Ambergeddon, Madtown Nutbrown and Contorter Porter in the brewer’s year-round lineup. Additionally, Ale Asylum has undergone a recent equipment expansion, adding a new 400-barrel fermentation tank, conditioning tank and brite tank to its existing production facility. Collectively, the three tanks have expanded Ale Asylum’s bottled beer capacity by around 5,400 cases.

•Raleigh, North Carolina’s Big Boss Brewing has collaborated with Pernod Ricard’s Avión Tequila and Olmeca Altos Distillery to create Muerto Viviente, a new barrel-aged brew. A Belgian dark ale brewed with agave nectar and pink peppercorns, Muerte Viviente is aged for a total of 11 months in Avión Reposado Tequila barrels. The 9%-abv ale, which is part of Big Boss’s Strange Cargo specialty series, is slated to launch locally on May 2. Founded in 2006, Big Boss Brewing’s core portfolio includes Hell’s Belle, Bad Penny, Angry Angel, Blanco Diablo and High Roller entries.
