Guarachi Family Wines Acquires Napa’s Meadowrock Vineyard

May 2, 2014

Guarachi Family Wines, which was launched in 2007 by TGIC Importers founder and CEO Alex Guarachi, said it has purchased Meadowrock, a 62-acre vineyard in the Atlas Peak appellation in Napa Valley. The high-profile vineyard, planted with 30 acres at an elevation from 1,400 to 1,760 feet, previously housed Meadowrock Winery and Astrale E Terra Winery.

The deal marks the second vineyard acquisition for the California company. In spring 2013 Guarachi Family Wines purchased Sun Chase vineyard in the Sonoma Coast AVA. “We see this purchase in Atlas Peak as a great complement to our recent Sun Chase acquisition, as both are located in the best growing regions in the Napa Valley and Sonoma Coast AVAs,” said Alex Guarachi, owner and chief winemaker of Guarachi Family Wines.

Guarachi Family Wines focuses on Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley and Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast. Its wines include Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Heritage Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Gap’s Crown Single Vineyard Pinot Noir and Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir.

Guarachi-owned TGIC Importers, founded in 1985, helped blaze a path for Chilean and Argentine wines in the U.S. market. The TGIC portfolio includes Bodega Norton, Kaiken, Pascual Toso, Perdriel and Che Gaucho from Argentina; Montes and Santa Ema from Chile; Nobilissima from Italy; and Castillo de Monseran from Spain.
