Diageo Revamps Executive Committee As Ghostine Departs

Diageo has announced a number of changes to its executive committee, as well as a new board member. Gilbert Ghostine, a 19-year Diageo veteran who currently serves as president, Diageo India and Greater China and chief corporate development officer, has accepted an as yet undisclosed role outside the company and will depart September 30. Accordingly, Sam Fischer, currently managing director Diageo Greater China, is joining Diageo’s executive committee as president, Diageo Greater China and Asia. Anand Kripalu, CEO of Diageo’s Indian subsidiary United Spirits Ltd., will also join the executive committee.

Both Fischer and Kripalu will report to Nick Blazquez, president, Diageo Africa and Asia Pacific. Meanwhile, in addition to his current responsibility as president, Diageo Western Europe, John Kennedy will take responsibility for Russia, Eastern Europe and Turkey as president, Diageo Europe. Finally, Diageo has appointed to its board of directors Nicola Mendelsohn, vice president, EMEA, of Facebook. All of those changes are effective September 1.
