•Craft Brew Alliance (CBA) has reported double-digit sales and volume growth for its second quarter ended June 30, 2014. CBA’s net sales rose 16% as total beer shipments grew 13% on the same quarter last year, driven by labels such as Widmer Brothers Upheaval IPA, Redhook KCCO Black Lager, Kona Big Wave Golden Ale and Omission Beer in particular. Year-to-date, CBA reported net sales and shipments growth of 17% and 15%, respectively, while depletion volume rose 9% over the six-month period. Meanwhile, the group’s capacity utilization increased to 78% in the first half, compared to 68% in 2013. Craft Brew Alliance was formed in 2008 through the merger of Pacific northwest craft players Widmer Brothers Brewing and Red Hook Ale Brewing. Kona Brewing joined the portfolio in 2010, and CBA launched Omission, a beer crafted to remove gluten, in 2012.

•Athens, Georgia’s Terrapin Beer Company is releasing the third beer in its Reserve Series next week. Imperial Pumpkin Pie Porter follows White Chocolate Moo-Hoo and Cinnamon Roll’d Wake-n-Bake in the series, first introduced last fall. The 9.2%-abv small-batch Imperial Porter featuring spices and rich malts will be available in 22-ounce bottles hand-dipped in wax in limited quantities throughout Terrapin’s distribution network through early September, the company says. Earlier this week, Terrapin announced the re-release of fall seasonal Pumpkinfest.

•Fort Bragg, California-based North Coast Brewing Company has added Puck, The Beer to its year-round lineup of craft beers. The 4%-abv petite saison was first introduced last year for the brewery’s 25th anniversary and is brewed with Pils and wheat malts and fermented with the yeast strain used in North Coast Le Merle, the company says. It will be available in the brewery’s taproom on draft this month and in California on draft and in four-packs of 12-ounce bottles in September, with a full rollout across North Coast’s distribution footprint to follow at a later date.
