Guinness Debuts Blonde American Lager
August 13, 2014Diageo Guinness USA has officially unveiled Guinness Blonde American Lager, a line extension aimed at expanding the appeal of the venerable Irish beer brand.Originally reported by SND July 8, Guinness Blonde is brewed in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and is billed as a “complex, flavorful lager with a floral, hoppy aroma that is a combination of Mosaic, Willamette and Mount Hood hops.”
The new blonde offering is the first release in a new Guinness Discovery Series, which will include both year-round brews and limited-edition beers. Guinness Blonde, which is 5% abv, will retail at $8.99 a six-pack of 12-ounce bottles in line with the core brand. The Guinness brand’s North American volume fell 6% on an organic basis in the 12 months through June.
