DC&E Intros New Central Coast Brand, Woodwork Wines

August 21, 2014

Diageo Chateau & Estate (DC&E) has unveiled a new brand, Woodwork Wines. Retailing at $14.99 a 750-ml., Woodwork is rolling out nationally with three Central Coast-grown varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Woodwork Wines are crafted with the use of oak staves—a barrel alternative—which DC&E says allow the winemaker to introduce oak flavors in measurable and repeatable ways, and also have a lower impact on the environment than traditional wine barrels. DC&E posted net sales up 6% in the 12 months through June, representing Diageo’s full fiscal year.
