•Boston Beer’s Samuel Adams is debuting Kosmic Mother Funk Grand Cru, a Belgian ale aged in Hungarian oak tuns for more than a year. Through November, the craft offering will be available on draft in select U.S. cities. Kosmic Mother Funk Grand Cru is brewed with wild yeast and bacteria including Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus for a spicy, fruity flavor with hints of oak and vanilla, according to the company. The ale was also blended into the Samuel Adams Barrel Room Collection series of Belgian brews. Kosmic Mother Funk Grand Cru will be available on tap in a “tasting tour” that will hit select locations in Boston, New York, Denver, Cleveland, Dallas, Philadelphia, D.C., Chicago, San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle and another city to be voted on by craft beer lovers across the country.
•Louisville-based Copper & Kings American Brandy Co. has launched its flagship brandy range into four new markets. The craft brewer’s Copper & Kings Immature Brandy ($29.99 a 750-ml.) and Copper & Kings Craft Distilled Brandy ($34.99) will both be available across select Tennessee markets, via a new partnership with Lipman Brothers; Illinois, via Heritage Wine Cellars; Indiana, via Glazers; and Minnesota, via Johnson Brothers. Previously, Copper & King Brandy had only been available in its home market of Kentucky via River City Distributing. Established in April, Copper & Kings American Brandy Co. specializes in non-chill filtered, copper pot-distilled American brandy aged in Bourbon barrels.
•Frederick, Maryland’s Flying Dog Brewery has unveiled the lineup for its 2015 Brewhouse Rarities series, featuring eight releases. The fourth edition of the annual small-batch series includes Mexican Hot Chocolate Stout, Early Grey Black Wheat, Sriracha Pale Ale, Maibock, Juniper White IPA, India Pale Lager, Spiced Pear Ale and Smoked Belgian Stout.
