•Pernod Ricard has provisionally appointed Conor McQuaid as vice president, marketing, effective September 1. Currently Pernod’s managing director for South Africa, McQuaid will succeed Martin Riley—Pernod’s CMO—effective January 1 and report to Thierry Billot, the group’s managing director, brands. Pernod says McQuaid will work with Billot on “merging the marketing and commercial development teams” of the company as part of its “Allegro” cost savings initiative. As of January 1, Pernod intends to create “a unique management position gathering marketing and commercial development functions together.”
•Stoneleigh winery, part of Pernod Ricard’s New Zealand wine portfolio, is releasing a new upscale range in the U.S. next month, Stoneleigh Latitude. Sourced from within the “Golden Mile” subsection of New Zealand’s Marlborough region, the collection includes Latitude Sauvignon Blanc ($21.95), Chardonnay ($22.49) and Pinot Noir ($25.95) offerings and will be available nationwide. The sub-region of Rapauru, where the Golden Mile is located, has a microclimate that’s warmer than the rest of the Marlborough region. That creates early ripening and harvesting for a crisp, fresh profile, the company says.
•Wine and spirits delivery service Thirstie has expanded its footprint with entry into San Francisco. The service, which accepts orders via its website and mobile apps, works with local retailers to curate the products offered and promises customers wine and spirits deliveries within a one-hour time frame. First launched in New York, Thirstie is also available in Chicago, Los Angeles and Miami.
•Premixed shot brand Liqs is moving into new markets after a successful test run in its home state of Florida. The Miami-based Liqs Cocktail Shots, which retail in three-packs of 50-ml. plastic shot glasses for $7.99, entered Texas (via Glazer’s) and Massachusetts (via United Liquors) this month. In Florida, Liqs is distributed by Southern Wine & Spirits. Additionally, Liqs has aligned with its first major chain account, Winn-Dixie.
