Craft Brewing and Distilling News for September 17, 2014

September 17, 2014

•Delaware craft brewer Dogfish Head is expanding its distilling activities with the addition of a twin 500-gallon copper pot still and a 26-foot column still acquired from Louisville’s Vendome Copper & Brassworks. With the new equipment, to be installed at Dogfish Head’s Milton, Delaware headquarters, the company intends to broaden production and distribution of its spirits beyond its home state for the first time, and into new mid-Atlantic markets like New York City, among others. Dogfish Head rum, gin and vodka will be rolling out to new markets next spring. For the past 12 years, the brewer has been producing spirits in very small quantities on a “Frankenstill” constructed from a stainless steel feed bin at its Rehoboth Beach brewpub.
