Prosecco Sprints to 34% U.S. Growth In First Half

The Prosecco DOC Consortium recorded a 34% increase in exports to the U.S. market in the first half of 2014, with volume reaching 1.27 million cases. With a 19% share of the DOC’s exports, the U.S. ranks third behind the U.K. and Germany. Spumante wines (+35%) drove Prosecco in the U.S. over the first half, with frizzante wines up 6%.

Globally, the Prosecco DOC Consortium saw exports rise 27%. “We will continue to focus on our target markets in the U.S., U.K. and Germany, while consolidating domestic efforts and looking toward the Eastern European and Southeast Asian markets,” said consortium director Luca Giavi.
