•Houston, Texas-based Saint Arnold Brewing Company has added to its Icon Red series with the launch of Sorachi Ace Dubbel (8% abv). The company uses Sorachi Ace hops in the Belgian Dubbel-style recipe, as well as yeast from a Trappist Monastery. The hops originated in Japan and contribute to the brew’s creamy character with an aroma of lemongrass and dill, the company says. Sorachi Ace Dubbel will be available in four-packs of 12-ounce bottles and on draft throughout Texas and Louisiana. Saint Arnold Icon is a series of rotating beers released about every three months that complements the brewery’s year-round and seasonal offerings.
•St. Louis, Missouri’s Excel Brewing Company has released its latest seasonal ale for the holiday season, Winter Warmer. Following earlier launches of Bruja Seasonal Pumpkin Ale and 2nd Anniversary Imperial Porter, the newest seasonal is part of the company’s plans for further distribution in the St. Louis market. Winter Warmer is a malty English-style old ale with notes of mocha, honey, toffee, hazelnuts and tobacco, the company says. It will be available for a limited time through January 2015 on draft and in bottles throughout the greater St. Louis area.
