December 9, 2014•San Francisco-based Anchor Brewing is debuting a new seasonal beer, Winter Wheat. The new offering is made with 2-row pale barley malt, Belgian roasted wheat malt, German pale spring wheat malt, “Midnight” and hard red wheat malts from the Midwest and unmalted soft red winter wheat from a local family farm. Anchor Winter Wheat will be available nationwide through January in 6-packs, 22-ounce bottles and on draught at select bars and restaurants.
•Pawtucket, Rhode Island-based Foolproof Brewing Company has entered the New Hampshire market through a partnership with New Hampshire Craft Alliance, a collaborative network of four distributors. New Hampshire Distributors, Bellavance Beverage, Clarke Distributors and White Mountain Distributors comprise the alliance, which will handle Foolproof’s craft beer offerings across the state in 12-ounce cans and on draft. The brewery’s four year-round beers include Barstool American golden ale, Raincloud robust porter, Backyard IPA and La Ferme Urbaine farmhouse ale, as well as specialty beers such as Revery Russian imperial stout and King of the Yahd imperial IPA. In addition to New Hampshire, Foolproof is currently distributed in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont and Dallas, Texas.
•Fort Collins, Colorado’s New Belgium Brewing and San Diego’s Alpine Beer Company have re-released their collaborative Super IPA. First introduced in August 2012, Super IPA (9% abv) will be available on draft only. It is brewed with Amarillo, Columbus, Simcoe and Centennial hops as well as specialty malts. Last month, Alpine was acquired by Green Flash Brewing Company for an undisclosed sum but will continue to operate independently. Green Flash plans to expand the craft brewer’s distribution reach beyond California next year.
