February 10, 2015•New York’s Original Sin Premium Hard Cider has released the third installment in its heirloom cider series, Original Sin Northern Spy Dry Cider. The limited edition offering, distributed to select markets in kegs, is a single varietal cider made from heirloom Northern Spy apples and joins Newtown Pippin and Cherry Tree hard ciders in the series. Original Sin founder Gidon Coll has been experimenting with the use of different cider, modern day and heirloom apple varieties in a test orchard on his family’s old dairy farm in upstate New York. The company’s ciders are currently available in 32 states, with launches in South Carolina and Arizona expected soon.
•Paulaner USA, importer of Germany’s Paulaner Brewery portfolio, is rolling out new packaging artwork as well as a new logo design on all secondary packaging. The revamped look is meant to emphasize the brand’s position as a leading German Hefe-Weizen in the U.S. market. It features the tagline “Germany’s #1 Hefe-Weizen” embossed on all secondary packaging. The design will be seen on six-packs and 12-pack assortments beginning this spring and the beer’s outer carton later this year. Paulaner USA’s portfolio also includes Hacker-Pschorr, O’Hara’s, Früli and Dixie beer.
