•Los Angeles’ Angel City Brewery has released its first canned offering, Social IPA. The session IPA (4.4% abv) is light-bodied with a hop character and citrus finish, the company says. Social IPA is available in six-packs of cans and on draft around Southern California. Established in 1997, Angel City Brewing was acquired by Alchemy & Science, an independent subsidiary of Boston Beer Co. led by Magic Hat co-founder Alan Newman, in 2012. Angel City’s downtown brewery features a 19-tap bar.

•Virginia-based Bold Rock Hard Cider will expand into a new facility in Mills River, North Carolina, near Asheville, in May. The new cidery will craft its products from locally-sourced apples, picked from Hendersonville-based Apple Wedge Packers. Founded in central Virginia in 2012, Bold Rock’s portfolio of ciders include Virginia Apple, Virginia Draft, Carolina Apple, Carolina Draft, Pear Cider, Vat No. 1 and Vintage Dry. The company’s distribution territory currently runs from Pennsylvania southward through South Carolina.
