Concha y Toro Sales Jump 23% To Cross $1 Billion

April 17, 2015

Chile’s Concha y Toro has entered 10-figure sales territory for the first time, posting a 23% revenue jump to $1.02 billion for 2014, on global volume of 33.2 million cases. The world’s fourth-largest wine company by volume, Concha y Toro credited a 17% advance to 4.4 million cases on the part of its flagship Casillero del Diablo brand with driving gains. It also touted its increasing overseas presence, which now extends to 145 markets and accounts for two-thirds of overall sales, as buttressing growth.

In North America, Concha y Toro’s sales totaled nearly $200 million on volume of 5.9 million cases in 2014. In the U.S., the company’s Fetzer Vineyards unit posted a volume decline to 1.9 million cases, as it focused on higher pricing tiers. Among the Fetzer portfolio’s brands, Bonterra benefited from a premiumization drive to generate an 11% sales increase.

Meanwhile, Excelsior Wine Company—Concha y Toro’s U.S. joint venture with Banfi Vineyards—saw sales rise 1.9% for the year, with growth coming from premium labels like Casillero del Diablo, Gran Reserva Serie Riberas and Don Melchor.
