Spirits Capital Partners Does Another Deal, This Time With Polish Vodka Brand Spud

April 21, 2015

Spirits Capital Partners (SCP), the drinks investment firm led by industry veteran Todd Martin, has announced its second new partnership in as many weeks. The latest deal is for Spud vodka, a Polish potato vodka brand targeted at Millennials.

Spud was created by advertising veteran Norman Schwartz and creative director Dean Stefanides, longtime collaborators whose work has included campaigns for Yellow Tail Australian wine and Patrón Tequila, among others. Spud has a strategic partnership with Roust, the world’s second-largest vodka company and creator of Russian Standard vodka, which produces Spud at its Polish facilities and handles distribution.

The Spud portfolio features the core non-flavored brand as well a flavor line including Red Hot Chili Pepper, Ginger Lemongrass, Heirloom Tomato and Pumpkin Spice. All the products retail at $19.99. The name, packaging and identity all are designed to appeal to Millennials, a demographic estimated at 92 million in the U.S. market.

Roust Americas (formerly Russian Standard USA) is currently launching Spud in several North American markets, and is expected to complete the rollout next year. Roust Americas CEO Leonid Yangarber predicted the brand will have “unique appeal to millions of Millennial consumers throughout the United States and Canada.”
