•San Diego-based Coronado Brewing is entering the craft-friendly North Carolina market through a partnership with Raleigh-based Mims Distributing Company. Coronado, whose beers include Islander IPA, Orange Avenue Wit and Mermaid’s Red, is now distributed to more than 20 U.S. states and 10 foreign countries. Its production rose by more than one-third to 30,000 barrels in 2014. North Carolina has become a hotbed of craft beer activity in recent years, boasting more than 100 breweries and brewpubs statewide. Big out-of-state craft producers like Oskar Blues, New Belgium and Sierra Nevada, meanwhile, have recently established their East Coast operations in the state.

•Rochester, New York-based Black Button Distilling is in expansion mode, with plans to double its production to roughly 3,600 bottles a week by year-end. The company, which produces Corn Whiskey, Citrus Forward Gin, Vodka and Four Grain Bourbon variants, recently added two new fermenters (for a total of six), two 15-ton grain silos and a second still. Black Button is also set to release a limited edition Lilac Gin (84 proof) to select liquor stores on May 1, packaged in 375-ml. bottles.
