Craft Brewing and Distilling News for May 12, 2015
May 12, 2015•Boston Beer Company’s Samuel Adams is asking consumers to vote for two favorite beer recipes from past releases to bring back into national distribution for a limited time. The company says it has released hundreds of beer styles over its 30 years of brewing, with more than 60 rolling out last year alone. Consumers can vote online and in person to determine which two beers will be re-released in early 2016. Voters are asked to choose from 16 offerings: Black & Brew Coffee Stout, Black Lager, Blackberry Witbier, Honey Porter, Mighty Oak Ale, Pale Ale, Brown Ale, Cranberry Lambic, East West Kolsch, Revolutionary Rye Ale, Rustic Saison, Scotch Ale, Vienna Lager, Weiss Bier, Golden Pilsner and Hefeweizen. Boston Beer recently reported that Samuel Adams’ depletions fell slightly in the first quarter of 2015.
•Portland, Oregon-based Indio Spirits has released Snake River Stampede 100 Year Anniversary, a new 10-year-old barrel-aged whiskey. Snake River Stampede 100 Year Anniversary is a commemorative offering, created to mark the 100th year of Nampa, Idaho’s Snake River Stampede Rodeo. The 40%-abv whiskey—which was aged for eight years in Bourbon barrels and two years in rye barrels, then finished for six months in Sherry casks—will be available for a limited time across Oregon, Idaho and Washington, as well as at Total Wine & More locations nationwide. Priced at around $39.95 a bottle, Snake River Stampede 100 Year Anniversary joins the James Oliver whiskey, Cricket Club gin, Red Island and Barrel Room rum and Indio vodka brands in Indio Spirits’ craft portfolio.
