June 5, 2015•Wisconsin’s Stevens Point Brewery has released a new year-round beer, Point Smiley Blue Pils. A Czech-style pilsner, Smiley Blue Pils is brewed with Saaz hops from the Czech Republic. It’s available in six- and 12-packs of 12-ounces bottles and 12-packs of 12-ounce cans throughout the company’s distribution footprint. Other year-round offerings from Stevens Point include Point Special Lager, Onyx Black Ale, Belgian White, Drop Dead Blonde Ale, Cascade Pale Ale, Amber Classic and Beyond the Pale IPA, among others.
•Illinois-based FEW Spirits has aligned with Wirtz Beverage for distribution across its home state. Under the agreement, Wirtz Beverage Illinois will handle FEW’s portfolio of craft spirits statewide in both the on- and off-premise markets. FEW, whose sales have doubled each year since its inception less than five years ago, is present in 20 U.S. markets, which Chicago remaining its anchor. The company produces Bourbon Whiskey, American Gin, Barrel Gin and Rye Whiskey, with the latter offering recognized as Whisky Advocate’s Craft Whiskey of the Year for 2013.
