Macallan, Highland Park Lead Edrington To 2% Yearly Sales Rise
June 29, 2015Scotland’s Edrington Group has posted a 2% revenue increase across its brand portfolio for the year ended in March, boosted by luxury Scotch whiskies The Macallan and Highland Park, which both saw sales jump by double-digits. Edrington Americas, the company’s recently launched U.S.-based distribution unit, enjoyed growth across the portfolio (also including Cutty Sark Scotch whisky, Brugal rum and Snow Leopard vodka) and drove double-digit profit growth for The Macallan over the course of the year. The Macallan crossed 200,000 cases in the U.S. in 2014, according to Impact Databank, while Highland Park was at 20,000 cases.
Overall, Edrington’s yearly turnover slipped 2.4% to £617 million ($971m) in the fiscal year due to “a significant reduction” in non-branded sales, the company said. Underlying EBIT increased by 5% to £181 million ($285m).
