Jägermeister Completes Acquisition Of Sidney Frank Importing Co.
August 3, 2015Germany’s Mast-Jägermeister has completed its acquisition of 100% of the stock of Sidney Frank Importing Co. (SFIC), its former U.S. importer. The company said that with the closing of the deal—which was originally announced June 23—Jägermeister controls “all dimensions of the brand’s value chain including two-thirds of its global distribution, as well as all logistics, sales, promotions and marketing in its three biggest markets: the U.S., Germany and U.K.”
New Rochelle-based SFIC employs approximately 180 people, and began importing Jägermeister in the U.S. in 1974. Under pressure from new shot options like Fireball and the broader flavored whiskey segment, Jägermeister’s U.S. volume has markedly declined in recent years, falling 12% to 1.9 million cases in 2014, according to Impact Databank.
