Diageo’s Orphan Barrel Project Releases Rhetoric 21-Year-Old Bourbon
August 4, 2015Diageo has introduced the latest entry in its Orphan Barrel whiskey series, Rhetoric 21-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. The Rhetoric brand made its debut with a limited edition 20-year-old Bourbon last year. Its new incarnation, which includes an extra year of aging in charred American oak barrels, offers a slightly higher alcohol strength, at 90.2 proof, and a richer and more complex taste profile, Diageo says. The 21-Year-Old Rhetoric will be available in limited quantities nationwide, priced at $100 a 750-ml.
In addition to Rhetoric, Diageo’s Orphan Barrel labels have included Barterhouse 20-Year-Old, Old Blowhard 26-Year-Old, Lost Prophet 22-Year-Old and Forged Oak 15-Year-Old. Diageo plans to roll out a new, progressively aged edition of Rhetoric each year through the release of a 25-Year-Old entry set to launch in 2019.
