Wagner’s Copper Cane Debuts On-Premise Focused Carne Humana White
August 6, 2015After recently sealing its $315 million sale of Meiomi to Constellation, Copper Cane Wines & Provisions is already reloading its portfolio. The latest release from the company, owned by Joseph Wagner, is a white blend under the existing Carne Humana brand, named for the Carne Humana rancho, an 1841 land grant encompassing a nearly 18,000-acre swath of Napa Valley. Carne Humana Proprietary White ($25 a 750-ml.) is a joint venture with winemaker Derek Bietler, Wagner’s cousin, and is comprised of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Chardonnay.
The new white blend joins Carne Humana’s existing Napa-sourced Red Blend in the brand range. Copper Cane tells SND that total production on Carne Humana is currently around 15,000 cases, with the Red available nationally and the new White targeted mainly on-premise in about 35 states.
