•Diageo is extending its Smirnoff Sours flavored vodka range with a Berry Lemon offering. Targeted at the shot occasion and the millennial demographic, Smirnoff Sours Berry Lemon joins Green Apple, Watermelon and Fruit Punch flavors in the Sours linup, which retails around $16 a 750-ml. Diageo says the newcomer is intended to capitalize on the berry and lemon flavor combination that is gaining popularity across the spirits, RTD and non-alcoholic beverage segments.

•After a 4.2% increase in July, control state spirits volume is up 2.9% year-to-date in 2015. Spirits shelf dollars rose 7.6% for the month and 5.5% year-to-date, as price/mix grew 3.2% from 2% a month earlier. Nearly all spirits categories saw volume rise at rates ahead of their rolling 12-month trends during the month of July. Control state wine volume increased 0.6% in July, compared with its rolling 12-month increase of 1.3%.

•Sonoma-based wine negoçiant firm The Other Guys has promoted Harvard Gates to president, national sales manager, from his current role as vice president, Eastern region. Meanwhile, the company has named Alex Beloz as consulting winemaker, with Beloz also remaining winemaker at Tricycle Wine Company.

•Diane Rome has been appointed Strategic Accounts Marketing Manager for Napa’s Hess Family Wine Estates. Rome was previously manager of national promotions at Constellation Brands.
