Accolade Wines Taps New CEO
September 28, 2015Accolade Wines has appointed Paul Schaafsma as its new CEO, replacing John Ratcliffe, who will become deputy chairman. Schaafsma is being promoted from his post as Accolade’s general manager for the U.K. and Ireland, the company’s largest region, where he’s credited with growing Accolade’s share in the U.K. market by 70%. The appointment is effective October 1. Controlled by CHAMP private equity, Accolade has key brands including Geyser Peak, Atlas Peak, XYZin, Hardys and Banrock Station, and annual sales of more than 35 million cases and A$1 billion ($700m). Earlier this year, the group named its former New Zealand chief, MJ Loza, as general manager of its North America operations.
