Chanel Acquires Napa Valley’s St. Supéry From Skalli Family

October 21, 2015

Chanel, Inc., one of the biggest names in fashion, is entering the California wine business, agreeing to acquire Napa Valley’s St. Supéry Estate Vineyards & Winery from the Skalli family for an undisclosed sum. Founded by Robert Skalli three decades ago, Rutherford-based St. Supéry sells around 130,000 cases of wine annually, according to Impact Databank, with its offerings generally priced above $20 a 750-ml.

The privately-held Chanel’s current owners, billionaire brothers Alain and Gerard Wertheimer, are owners of French wine estates Rauzan-Ségla and Chateau Canon. The sale will be completed later this month. No significant changes in operations or management are expected.
