•As part of its ongoing Top 100 Wines of 2015 celebration, Wine Spectator has unveiled its number-six and number-five wines of the year. Number-six is Bodegas Aalto Ribera del Duero 2012, which received a score of 94 points from the magazine and retails at $54 a bottle. Number-five is Mount Eden Vineyards Chardonnay Santa Cruz Mountains 2012 (95 points/$60). The rest of the Top 10 will be revealed over the course of this week at http://2015.top100.
•Total Wine & More is eyeing a new store location in Everett, Massachusetts, the Boston Globe reports. The proposed site is a 24,500-square foot space at the city’s Gateway Center, which formerly housed an OfficeMax. Total Wine has been moving aggressively in the Bay State recently. In addition to the Everett proposal, Total is set to open its first Massachusetts store in Natick this month and has also filed an application for a location in Shrewsbury.
•Francis Ford Coppola’s Virginia Dare Winery has introduced two entries under its new Virginia Dare Showcase Wines range. The inaugural releases include a 2014 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir and 2014 Russian River Valley Chardonnay, both priced at $25 a 750-ml. Geyserville, California-based Virginia Dare Winery, which was officially christened by Coppola back in September, serves as the home base for Coppola’s American Pioneer Wine Growers unit, whose previous launches include The White Doe, Manteo, Two Arrowheads and The Lost Colony.
•Alcohol delivery provider Drizly has launched in Tampa, Florida via a new partnership with Florida retailer ABC Fine Wine & Spirits. Starting this month, Tampa consumers are able to virtually shop a selection of beer, wine and spirits available across four ABC stores in the market, with delivery promised within a one-hour time frame.
