•Middlebury, Vermont’s Woodchuck Cider tells SND that sales of its Gumption extension are set to near 200,000 cases this year, making it the brand’s second-largest offering, after its core Amber expression. Debuted in February 2015, Gumption (5.5% abv) is a year-round entry made with a blend of eating apples and dry bittersweet cider apples, retailing for $8.99 a six-pack. To keep pace with anticipated holiday demand, Woodchuck—which is owned by Ireland’s C&C Group—is launching Gumption in a new 22-ounce format ($4.99 each) this season.
