California Retailer K&L Unveils New San Francisco Flagship

December 4, 2015

California’s K&L Wine Merchants has moved its flagship San Francisco store to a new location that nearly triples the square footage of its old site. The new 23,000-square-foot K&L store on Harrison Street is situated a few blocks from the former 8,500-square-foot space it occupied since 2003.

“This new location not only gives us much more room on the sales floor and back of the house, but also allows us to add more wine lockers,” Trey Beffa, vice president of K&L, tells SND. “The new store also gives us the space to have a proper tasting bar along with a huge ‘old and rare’ section.” The wine lockers offer customers private temperature- and humidity-controlled spaces of varying size in which to store their wines, including bottles not purchased at K&L.

Beffa adds that the move allows up to 10% more retail facings for each product category, and enables K&L to give greater emphasis to its spirits and craft beer offerings in addition to wine. Along with the San Francisco flagship, K&L also operates retail locations in Redwood City and Hollywood, California.
