Palm Bay Launches Ireland’s Writers Tears Whiskey Stateside

Palm Bay International is debuting Writers Tears Copper Pot Irish whiskey into select U.S. markets. Made with single malt and single pot still whiskies distilled from Irish barley, Writers Tears is non-peated and aged in American oak Bourbon casks. The 40%-abv whiskey, which is part of the Walsh Whiskey portfolio, retails at $39.99 a bottle and is currently available across New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C. and Massachusetts.

Walsh Whiskey, led by founder Bernard Walsh, “has built out a brand new distillery in Carlow, about two hours south of Dublin, that’s in the process of being completed,” says Marc Taub, Palm Bay’s president and CEO. “In the interim, he’s purchased stocks from Midleton for the last 10 years that have set the tone for the profile of what the whiskey will look like as he transitions and adds his own stocks to the new operation.”

In addition to Writers Tears, Palm Bay imports Walsh Whiskey’s The Irishman range, which features Single Malt, Founder’s Reserve, Cask Strength and 12-Year-Old Single Malt whiskies, as well as Hot Irishman Irish Coffee and The Irishman Superior Irish Cream.
