Santa Margherita USA Launches With Namesake Brand Anchoring Italian Stable

Santa Margherita USA has officially taken over distribution of its namesake wine brand, which will lead a portfolio of premium Italian labels that also includes Torresella, Kettmeir, Lamole di Lamole, Sassoregale, Feudo Zirtari and Fattoria Sardi.

Santa Margherita USA Inc. is headquartered in Miami and is led by CEO Vincent Chiaramonte, who’s been an executive at Winebow for much of the past decade.

Also joining the team are Jennifer Engel as vice president of sales and Mark Lyle as vice president of marketing. Engel’s drinks industry experience includes time with Jackson Family Wines, Wirtz Beverage and Banfi, for whom she was most recently national business manager for the luxury Cru Artisan team. Lyle was most recently marketing department head at Banfi, and has also served at Deutsch Family Wine and Spirits, Diageo and E.&J. Gallo.

Under the stewardship of its previous importer, Terlato Wines, Santa Margherita grew from 200,000 cases in the U.S. in 1994 to above 700,000 cases today. Now, Santa Margherita USA will look to leverage further growth opportunities for the brand’s flagship super-premium Pinot Grigio, as well as its Chianti Classico Riserva and Prosecco Superiore offerings.
