January 20, 2016•Effective immediately, the Rhône’s Domaine Les Cailloux and André Brunel have joined Folio Fine Wine Partners from Robert Kacher Selections. One of the oldest estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Le Cailloux is owned by André Brunel and his son Fabrice. The vineyards have been in the Brunel family for over three centuries. In addition to three wines from Domaine Le Cailloux (retailing from $54–$230), Folio is gaining André Brunel offerings include Domaine de la Bécassonne and five cuvees bottled under his own name from the Southern Rhône, including a popular Côtes du Rhône Rouge ($10–$48).
•Moët Hennessy’s Glenmorangie single malt has introduced a new Scotch whisky under its annual Private Edition collection. The new offering, Glenmorangie Milsean, is a no-age-statement whisky that was first matured in ex-Bourbon casks before spending a number of years of extra aging in heavily toasted Portuguese wine casks. The 46% abv entry is launching worldwide. 1,500 cases have been imported to the U.S., where Milsean will retail at $99 a bottle.
•California’s Castle Rock Winery has extended its partnership with Southern Wine & Spirits (SWS) to include exclusive distribution in the markets of Washington, Oregon, Alaska and Minnesota, effective February 1. SWS already handles Castle Rock’s wine portfolio in California, Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico. Castle Rock, which produces around 500,000 cases annually, specializes in wines priced primarily within the $9-$16 a bottle range, with a particular focus on Pinot Noir. The winery expects to reach the 1-million-case mark over the next four to five years.
•Lucas Bols USA is adding a new flavor, Parfait Amour, to its Bols liqueur line. Retailing at around $18 a 750-ml., Parfait Amour is a dark purple liqueur “with an aromatic floral taste that comes from rose and violet petals, enhanced by vanilla, orange peel and almonds,” says Lucas Bols, which suggests adding half an ounce of Parfait Amour to a glass of Champagne. The new extension joins more than 30 flavors in the existing Bols liqueur range.
